MEET OUR STAFF
Jonathan is a native of Conyers, Georgia and recently married Emily in May of 2017. He is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and felt called to ministry while in middle school. Jonathan graduated Phi Bet Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Furman University and summa cum laude with a Master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School. From June 2012 to June 2017, Jonathan served as an Associate Pastor at Hamilton Mill UMC overseeing discipleship, missions, and the Family Ministries team. Prior to this, Jonathan interned with the Evangelical Methodist Church of El Salvador and Peachtree Road UMC in Buckhead. Jonathan currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Salem Camp-meeting where he has attended since birth. During his free time, Jonathan loves photography, trail running, and iced coffee.
Jonathan and Emily met while they were students together at Furman University. Their first encounter was in 2010 while on a campus ministry mission trip to Chicago, and they reconnected in 2013 while both working in the Atlanta area. They were married on May 13th, 2017. Emily has a BA from Furman University and a Masters in Counseling from UGA. She is currently a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and works at CHRIS180–a non-profit serving under-resourced children and families in DeKalb County. Emily has a passion for serving others in need and can often be found lending a listening ear to others. Emily and Jonathan love exploring new places, being outdoors, eating together, and connecting with others in the community.
BJ grew up in Westbrook, a small town in southern Maine and went to college in Boston, Massachusetts. She has been married to her husband, Steve, for 33 years, and they have two children. Benjamin (31) is an airplane instructor pilot in the US Navy. Rebecca (26) is an ER Nurse and recenlty completed her Masters Degree at the State University of New York. She is married to Pearson and has two beautiful little girls. BJ and Steve are members of Momentum Church in the Eagles Landing area of Henry County. BJ is a fabulous cook and loves to bake and has recently begun working part time making baked goods for the Queen Bee Coffee Co. in McDonough, BJ also enjoys sewing/quilting and spending time with family and friends.
Children Ministries Pastor
Tammy grew up in Mt. Pleasant S.C. just outside of Charleston. She has been married to her husband Larry for 24 years, and has two children Lawrence (23) and Andrew (15).
In Mt. Pleasant Tammy worked as a preschool teacher and camp director for eight years as well as working in the nursery program at her church for two years. In 2002 she moved to Georgia with her family where she worshiped at Stockbridge Methodist church and worked at their preschool. In 2005 God called her to become the children’s director at Union United Methodist Church where she served for six years.
Tammy is looking forward to serving at Harvest Point. She plans to continue to share God’s love with all His children and to follow the path He has mapped out for her and her family.Worship Pastor
Oscar Smith is a native to the Henry County area and has been married to his wife, Becca, for 10 years. They have a daughter, Maddie, and twin sons, Caleb & Carson. He has spent the majority of his life playing and writing music – starting with piano and violin, various brass and percussion instruments, and the guitar.
In 2010, Oscar was called to develop and lead a new contemporary worship service for Hampton UMC. He served for 5 years as the worship leader. He enjoyed mentoring to youth in the church, teaching lessons, and leading them in worship.
Oscar graduated from Clayton State University in May 2016, with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a minor in Psychology. He currently works with children in the Henry County Schools with emotional and behavioral disabilities. Oscar recently joined the Harvest Point family in January 2016 to serve as the new worship pastor.
Oscar is passionate about his family, songwriting, discipling and mentoring young worship leaders and artists, and leading the church body into worship through content rich in theology, expression, and mission.

Student Ministries Pastor
Coop is a native of Michigan and has been married to his wife, Laurie, for 33 years. They have six children: Gabrielle, Garrett, Michaela, Austin, Christy and Kayla as well as four awesome grand kids. Coop studied and wrestled at Liberty University , where he majored in Math/Education/Psychology and Youth Counseling. He has a wealth of knowledge in Youth Ministry and served in churches in Pennsylvania and Michigan before joining Harvest Point. He is bi-vocational and also serves as a life coach through Outsiders Ministries. Coop committed to fulltime service to Christ after a mission trip to Guatemala at age 17. He has a passion to see youth and others come to Christ, for them to grow in a personal relationship with Him and to have fun doing it. He also loves reaching out to the world and has served on more than 20 mission trips.

Jose is a native of Washington DC and is married to his wife Angie for 21 years. They have three children. Von Marie (18), Kiki (14) and A.J (7). Jose was a single father to his daughter Stephanie (24) for two years before dating his wife Angie. In 1994, Good Friday he accepted Jesus Christ s Lord and Savior and began his journey in ministry. After receiving his calling, Jose completed an undergraduate degree at Luther Rice Baptist Seminary in Puerto Rico. During his undergraduate work, Jose has served as Praise and Worship Minister, as a Christian Education Minister and as a Youth Pastor before serving as a Interim Pastor for Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he received his pastoral license in 2001. Jose has planted two churches for the Spanish speaking community in the state of Georgia. Forest Park First Baptist Church where he served for five years and now Iglesia La Gran Cosecha as a Harvest Point UMC Latino Ministry. Jose’s is now a bi-vocational pastor with the goal of serving the Lord in a full time capacity. His passion is to preach the word of God and see lives being changed for His glory.
